ATO, Inc., was organized in May 1997 by the general membership of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. – Alpha Theta Omega Chapter - Raleigh in May 1997l. ATO, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, filed its Articles of Incorporation on June 13, 1997.

The original incorporators were

  • Dr. Marjorie B. Debnam (deceased) – first Chairman of the Board,

  • Mrs. Barbara T. Flood, (deceased)

  • Ms. Anita Davis Pearson – Attorney-At-Law, and

  • Mrs. Gayla T. Smith

Only members of the chapter are eligible to be ATO, Inc. members. Regency Investment Associates – Raleigh, NC, a small business in the real estate development industry, established a partnership with ATO, Inc. and provided all funds to give service to low- and moderate-income families in Southeast Raleigh, meeting the special needs of the elderly, and providing educational and enrichment programs for families and youth.

 

ATO, Inc. continues to provide various services to Pine Hills – an apartment complex for seniors. ATO, Inc. donates to different charities and organizations throughout the year. ATO, Inc. members also volunteer at different charities and organizations.

 

Since 2015, ATO, Inc., in collaboration with Alpha Theta Omega Chapter sponsors the annual Debutante Program for 12th grade high school ladies. ATO, Inc. will continue to serve local and global communities.

  1. Provide services and programs to local and global communities that focus on health and education enrichment, and socioeconomic disparities.

  2. Make donations to charities and organizations that support families in the local communities. ATO, Incorporated’s mission.

  3. Support the chapter programs and initiatives of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated that are part of Sponsor ATO, Incorporated’s signature Debutante Program, in collaboration with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. – Alpha Theta Omega Chapter - Raleigh. The Debutante Program provides an enriching program of educational, cultural, and social activities for worthy young women who are high school seniors and culminates with their presentation at the Annual Debutante Ball. The debutantes and young men in high school who escort the debutantes in the Ball, are eligible to apply for and receive scholarships.
